Speedboat Tours on Loch Lomond

Often described as the highlight of a trip to Loch Lomond, a luxury speedboat tour is the perfect way to discover the loch. Combine travelling at speed over open water with cruising slowly through the many islands with and enjoy breath-taking Scottish scenery in every direction.

About Loch Lomond

The largest expanse of fresh water in the United Kingdom, Loch Lomond is 23 miles long and 5 miles wide. The loch’s outstanding natural beauty, rich history and abundant wildlife have attracted visitors from across the world for generations. The northern end resembles a Norwegian Fjord, with steep craggy mountains rising dramatically for the waters edge, whilst the southern half is broad and open and dotted with islands. No matter where you are on Loch Lomond you are guaranteed spectacular views in every direction.

About Our Speedboat Tours

All of our speedboat tours are designed to help you make the most of your time on Loch Lomond. Seating up to 8 passengers, our 21-foot Regal is the perfect way to explore the loch and its islands. You will find details of popular tours below but if you’d like to know more then Chris will be happy to help. All of our tours start and finish at Portnellan unless otherwise agreed. Collection and drop off can be arranged from Luss, Balmaha, Cameron House and Inchmurrin Island.

Combine the thrill of travelling at speed over open water and cruising slowly through the lochs many islands. Discover Loch Lomond from the comfort of a luxury speedboat including points of interest such as the Highland Boundary Fault Line, the Loch Lomond Golf Course and the ‘Narrows’.

Each island has its own story to tell. From ancient castles and clan burial grounds to beautiful forest walks and stunning view points (and even a pub!), all the islands have something to offer.

90 minute or 2 hour Tour (£195 or £260)

Choose between the islands of Inchcailloch or Inchmurrin.

Inchcailloch is part of the Loch Lomond National Nature Reserve and one of the most popular islands due to its outstanding natural beauty and rich history. The 90 minute tour allows enough time to walk up to the ruins of an old church and clan burial ground – definitely worth a visit! Opting for the 2 hour tour will give you longer on the boat and more time to explore this enchanting island. After visiting the church a walk up the islands small hill will reward you with amazing panoramic views over the other islands and into the highlands.

Inchmurrin is the largest of Loch Lomond’s Islands and the only one to have bar and restaurant. The Scott family have lived and farmed the island for over 90 years and their family run pub is the perfect place to stop for a drink whilst taking in the stunning loch views.

2.5 hour or 3 hour Island Hopping Tour (£325 or £390)

This popular tour combines a visit to both Inchcailloch and Inchmurrin. After a tour of the loch, make a stop on Inchcailloch for a walk on the beach or a visit to the ruins. After stretching your legs, a quick spin over to Inchmurrin for a relaxed drink on the deck of the island pub is the perfect way to finish the tour.

Arrive in style at one of the many loch side or restaurants and dine on the finest local produce whilst enjoying panoramic loch views. The perfect way to celebrate a special occasion or just a fun afternoon out with family or friends, the speedboat tour & meal combines stunning scenery with the best of Scotland’s world renowned food and drink.

Please note that prices do not include food and drink which should be paid directly to the venue.

2 hour Speedboat Tour & Meal at Inchmurrin Island (£260)

Enjoy a short speedboat tour of the loch before arriving at Inchmurrin, for light lunch or dinner in the islands restaurant before stepping back on board for the return journey.

2.5 hour or 3 hour Speedboat Tour & Meal  (£325 or £390)

Combine a speedboat tour of Loch Lomond with a stop for lunch or dinner at one of the many loch-side restaurants. Choose from Inchmurrin Island, Lodge on Loch Lomond, The Clansman at Rowardennan or the Boat House at Cameron House Marina*

*£35 marina fee applies – but you get a 20% discount on food & drinks.

3.5 hour or 4 hour Speedboat Tour & Meal  (£455 or £520)

A longer charter allows you to explore more of Loch Lomond on the boat and gives you the opportunity to travel from one end of the loch to the other for a meal at Ardlui Marina, or if you’d rather perhaps visit the beautiful island of Inchcailloch for a walk before or after your meal.

What better way to see Loch Lomond than by cruising from pub to pub by speedboat? With a variety of loch-side pubs and bars to choose from this is a truly unique experience perfect for special occasions and especially popular with stag and hen do’s, birthday parties and corporate incentive groups.

Please note that prices do not include food and drink which should be paid directly to the venue.

2.5 hour Mini Speedboat Pub Tour (£325)
A taster for the real thing but perfect if you’re on a budget or a bit tight for time, the mini speedboat pub tour allows time for two 30 minute stops. A typical itinerary might include drinks at the Lodge on Loch Lomond and Inchmurrin Island.

3 hour Speedboat Pub Tour (£390)
The 3 hour speedboat pub tour is one of our most popular trips. You have the option to make 3 shorter pub stops or 2 more relaxed stops with a bit longer on the water. Our usual stops are The Oak Tree Inn, Lodge on Loch Lomond and Inchmurrin Island.

4 hour Speedboat Pub Tour (£520)
The 4 hour speedboat pub tour gives you a bit more flexibility in terms of timing and the option to stop for a meal at one of the pubs. If you are not having a meal, then there should be time for 4 stops. If you decide to have a meal at one of the pubs this would reduce to 3.

The perfect way to celebrate in style or as a gift to loved ones, the champagne cruise is guaranteed to impress. Enjoy a glass of bubbly on board whilst surrounded by spectacular Scottish scenery.

Champagne Cruise (from £190)

Enjoy an hour’s speedboat tour and crack open the champagne whilst cruising slowly through the ‘narrows’, a beautiful passage-way between 3 of the lochs larger islands. Add additional time and enjoy a little longer on board or perhaps stop at an island for champagne on the beach.

This tour is becoming ever more popular as people look for a day out with a difference. Enjoy a speedboat tour on Loch Lomond before being dropped on an island for a picnic or BBQ on the beach. If you’d like to order any of our home grown organic beef (steaks, burgers or sausages) for your BBQ just let us know when you book.

Island Picnic / BBQ (from £195)

Escaping to an island on Loch Lomond for a picnic or BBQ is something special. The feeling that you’re really away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, surrounded by nature and the most beautiful scenery. You’ll hear birds singing in the trees and waves lapping on the beach. You may even catch a glimpse of the deer that inhabit these enchanting islands.

These tours can be fully customised so whether your just looking for a speedboat transfer out to an island or looking to make a day of it then please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Of course, all the above are only suggestions and any of our tours can be tailored to your exact requirements. Feel free to combine speedboat tours, island visits, drinks and meals into one unique experience! If you’d like any help at all in planning your trip please get in touch with Chris who will be happy to help.

About The Skipper

Chris Scott-Park on Portnellan Farm

Chris started Portnellan Farm Speedboat Tours back in 2015, shortly after graduating from the University of Stirling with a degree in Environmental Science & Outdoor Education and returning to work on the family farm. The idea was to use his local knowledge and Portnellan’s unique location to provide a friendly and personalised service for those looking to explore Loch Lomond. Shortly after starting the speedboat tours he added kayak and stand-up paddleboard hire to the business realising that many people preferred the quieter and less busy location that Portnellan could offer. Chris now runs the boat tours and water-sports alongside working on the farm. He loves his job (although he doesn’t often consider it work!) and particularly enjoys meeting new people and talking to them about the farm and surrounding area.

Important Notes

  • Please remember to bring warm and waterproof clothing and wear suitable footwear.
  • Buoyancy aids will be provided and must be worn on the boat.
  • Smoking is not permitted on the boat.
  • Please note that any prices shown do not include any food or drinks unless otherwise stated.
